Desperate for some NFL action on a big screen? No, no, I'm not talking about watching a game or anything like that. It's March, after all, and the NFL season unfortunately doesn't start for AT LEAST like 37 months. The draft is coming up soon, but not until May. That might as well be in 2057, for all it matters.
So, if you're desperate enough to check out some NFL related stuff on a big screen, and if you LOVE famed actor K-Co (Kevin Costner), you can get some free tickets to a screening of the movie "Draft Day" this week at AMC Rosedale. Details following:
From the kind intern who was doing her job to spread the message about K-Co's glorious return to the big screen:
Attend an advanced screening of DRAFT DAY! Go to www.gofobo.com/rsvp and enter the code DBBCL2 to download a pair of free passes (while supplies last). Please be advised that seating will be first come, first served so it’s a good idea to arrive early, and make sure to bring the passes with you.

Synopsis: On the day of the NFL Draft, general manager Sonny Weaver (Costner) has the opportunity to rebuild his team when he trades for the number one pick. He must quickly decide what he's willing to sacrifice in pursuit of perfection as the lines between his personal and professional life become blurred on a life-changing day for a few hundred young men with dreams of playing in the NFL.
Rated PG-13. U.S. release via SUMMIT ENTERTAINMENT on April 11, 2014.
If I can be honest her for a second, this is the flimsiest plot line I have ever heard in my entire life.
First, what NFL team just ups and trades away the first pick in the draft? First picks usually include franchise changing quarterbacks, defensive cornerstones, or a left tackle that keeps your franchise quarterback's ass clean. And the teams who GET that first pick 1,000% of the time need at least one of those three things. Soooo … What, the Texans don't need any of those types of players? Matt Schaub is good enough? They're just going to trade that pick to K-Co? I doubt it.
Second, everyone likes to make up lies about how STRESSFUL the NFL draft is for GMs. But come on. There are 37 mock drafts between when the NFL season ends and when the draft actually happens. Even if someone like Rick Spielman didn't do ANY scouting and just chose players based on an aggregate agreement of mock drafts, it still couldn't get less stressful. Only morons mess the NFL draft up, and only REAL idiots screw up the first pick. Did we REALLY think Jamarcus Russel was going to pan out? Some people are high as shit when it comes to these things.
Anyway, if you see the movie, let me know how hilarious it is. I think it's a comedy, right?
